End of the year info

Wow this year is flying by! A lot has happened in the past few weeks and there are still many events coming up! Please look at your child's grade and see what they should be working on.

Congrats to the 8th grade band on making all Superior Ratings at contest! We were incredibly proud of their performance.

-Spring Band concert is May 11th at Homewood High School at 6:00 pm.
-Six Flags trip for the 7th and 8th grade is May 16th. More information will be sent out soon.

6th Grade:
Your student should be practicing their pass off sheet. There are 18 songs from their book that they are required to pass off. Students are also being given solos and duets for an event called Solo and Ensemble. We host this at HMS. Students prepare a short piece and play in front of a judge where they get a rating. We strongly encourage all 6th graders to participate.

7th Grade:
After Spring Break the 7th grade bands will perform the 3 songs we have been working on for 3 judges here at school. This is similar to the contest the 8th grade went to and will give them a chance to be critiqued by judges. 7th graders are also encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble. Many of them participated last year and did very well.

8th Grade:
We have passed out new music we are working on for the Spring Concert. They also have their audition music for high school concert band. Every student will be in a concert band in high school- this audition is to place them in the right band. Auditions will take place after Spring Break. The exact dates are TBA.

All three grades have music they should be practicing! Encourage your child to bring home their instrument...especially over Spring Break!
